Gambling operations in Macau generated profits of more than 7.0 billion dollars during the first semester of the year, as informed by the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (GICB) this week. Also, according to the GICB the second quarter of the year profits fell 126 million with a total of 3.6 billion dollars compared to the first quarter in which revenue reached 3.7 billion dollars.
Gaming profits, which reach the 99 per cent of the whole gambling sector, totalized 7.4 billion dollars. VIP baccarat play obtained earnings for 5.1 million, which represents almost 70 per cent of the total gaming profits. New casinos like the Sands Venetian Macao, which opened last year, also helped to increase gains.
Nowadays, there are 30 casinos in Macau, 19 of which are owned by the Sociedade de Jogos de Macao, five are owned by Galaxy Casinos, two by Venetian Macau, two to Melco/PBL Jogos (Macau), one to Wynn Resorts and the other one to MGM Grand Paradise, with a total of 4,311 gaming tables and 12,956 gaming machines.
