These Myths are Mistakes

Most people who are well read in casino gambling know that quite a few of the common beliefs gamblers have are mistaken. For example, slot machines do not have predetermined win and loss cycles. Everything that happens inside a slot machine’s Random Number Generator is, well, random, or as close to random as humans can make it.
Only A Slot Player? Think Again

Who is worth more to a casino, the slot player who plays three one-dollar coins in the machine or the basic strategy blackjack player who plays $25 a hand? I’m sure most people who aren’t suspicious of such questions, would tend to think that the blackjack player who plays $25 a hand is the more valuable because, after all, $25 is a lot of money.
Can You Get a Real Edge at Craps?

In the early 1950s when blackjack was a secondary game, no one in the casino industry thought that the game could be beaten. The game made money so everyone figured it must always favor the casino. No mathematical studies had been done by the casinos back then as studies are now done on all new games, and since blackjack made the casinos money, no casino executive gave any thought to the idea that maybe the game could be beaten.
Hitchcock, Blackjack and Suspense

Here, by analogy, was his definition of “a thrill”: On the screen is a man standing at a podium droning on to his board of directors about this and that business enterprise, how much they made in this quarter, what to expect in the future, when all of a sudden the podium explodes into a million pieces, as does the man, and everyone in the room is either killed or maimed.
In Baccarat Bigger is Better!

Size counts. Bigger is better. The rich are different than you and me.
Most intelligent people would scoff if they were told the above cliches were true. After all, bigger isn’t better when it comes to heart attacks. The large-size pimples on the teenager’s cheek aren’t more of a love enhancer than the small ones. And certainly, Ernest Hemingway said it plainly about the riches’ difference between you and me: “Yeah, they have more money!”
